Muslim cab driver refuses guide dog in Letchworth
A BLIND man says he was refused use of a taxi in Letchworth because the Muslim driver would not allow his guide dog in the car.
Stevenage resident Sean Dilley had been at Letchworth Sports and Tennis Club in Muddy Lane with his guide dog Chipp on Sunday evening for a blind tennis demonstration.
Friends had organised for a taxi driver to pick up the 29-year-old after the event and take him back to Letchworth rail station.
But when the driver arrived shortly after 7pm to pick him up, he refused to let Sean and Chipp in the car.
"The driver turned up and said you are more than welcome but I’m not taking your dog," said Sean, who has been blind for 15 years.
"He said it was because he was a Muslim. I was horrified. This sort of thing happens all the time and it’s not acceptable."
The debate between Sean and the driver was caught on camera by a friend.
It has been reported that some strands of Islam teach that dogs should be avoided because the animal's saliva is considered to be impure.
Sean is a freelance broadcaster and parliamentary lobby correspondent for talkSPORT and last year made a film for the BBC’s Daily Politics show highlighting how many businesses and restaurants refused entry to guide dogs. Picked on the wrong person it would seem.
He called the taxi firm Gary’s Taxis to complain but was told the driver was within his rights. Obviously not!
But Sean believes that the driver was breaking disability discrimination law by refusing to take them and has reported the matter to North Herts Council, which licenses taxis in the district.
"I have a lot of energy and I know the law, and yet I find battling this sort of thing exhausting," he said.
"There must be many elderly or vulnerable people who can’t do that and just put up with it.
"Often it’s difficult to prove what happened though but this time we’ve got video evidence of what happened."
The Advertiser was unable to contact the taxi driver and Gary’s Taxis would only say "It’s a matter between the council and the driver." Dangerous move by gary's taxis when their address is readily available. The best thing they can do is suspend/sack mr muzzy and apologise publicly.
Cllr Bernard Lovewell, the council’s portfolio holder for housing and environmental health, said: "We are currently investigating a complaint regarding an alleged incident with a North Herts licensed hackney carriage driver and a customer with a guide dog.
"Until we have concluded the investigation we cannot comment further.
"We would like to reassure residents that council-licensed taxi drivers should not refuse a blind or partially sighted person from getting in to their taxi on the grounds that they wish an assistance dog to accompany them." Does that include muzzies mr councillor?
Thanks to Ulnoth for highlighting this.

If I have to use a taxi, I allways make a point that I want a white Englisc man or women as my driver as I dont trust Muslims, Blacks ect. For some reason I dont allways seem to get a taxi. Don't know why, maybe its how I say it.

There are very few white taxi drivers round my way. I haven't taken one since I was chased to a safe place by an Asian who could only have got my address from the driver of the last taxi I used.

My son had the misfortune to be driven home by a muzzie taxi driver recently. Twat tried to charge him above the previously agreed price, once my son's chum had departed. With a further 3 miles to go at 2.00 in the morning, and minus 3c, my son tried negotiation. They got as far as 1/4 mile from home and my lad told him to stop the cab. He offered him a token amount and when the driver argued, told him to f**k off.
(I wouldn't have even tried negotiating, but he comes from a different generation, trained to "integration" and "enrichment"- still, I would have had a 3 mile walk, whereas he got nearly all the way home for next to nowt
) My son would never be heard to speak "incorrectly" but he knows what side he is on when the proverbial hits the fan. Don't let ourselves be fooled by the vocal minority of leftie race apologists. WE have the numbers, and everyday they are speaking out a little bit more. It will be gradual; bad habits and fear take a lot of overcoming, but it's happening.

Just a quick update on this one
The actual incident caught on film. I heard the blind guy being interviewed by the local BBC radio station today. The beeb presenter was too scared to say 'muslim' or 'islam' so instead made out it was an issue with taxi drivers and dogs! Lying marxist scum. It was a racial, religious incident and if mr muslim driver is such a devout islamist, how comes he has no issue's driving 'impure' drunks about? or shoppers with kaffir bacon in their shopping bags? If Guide Dogs could pay, he would have let it in his cab. The blind man had no problem saying it how it is and pointed out exactly what the driver said - he refused because he was a muslim and it was against his faith. The blind man also called the councillor in the first post in this thread an ''idiot'' for suggesting blind people ''chose'' to use guide dogs.
The taxi company is staying quiet on it. Good luck to him, like he says this type of thing is common and they normally get away with it. Hopefully justice will be done.
