They Just Couldn't Resist It, Could They?

(I'll keep this bit short, I promise!)
Two of the characters - Neville and Helena Landless are orphan twins who are brought to England from Ceylon to further their education. Now the author doesn't firmly establish their ethnicity in the narrative, but anyone reading it would easily infer that they were white - without a doubt!
Can I leave it up to you good people to guess what the BBC have done?
(PS, the rumbling noise you may be able to hear is poor old Charlie slowly rotating in his grave!)

I mean, why should we be surprised? We should expect nothing more from a highly Communistic Influenced Media.......

No thanks, I'll stick to either reading the books or watching the pre-lunacy film/television adaptations.
You call it freedom and tolerance. I call it a death dance for England

You'll have to read Dicken's to understand that folk coming to England from Ceylon were wealthy planters, not Tamils - they were the one's doing the picking. Think 'sun never sets on' then you'll get it. The BBC used artistic licence to the max to fit ethnoids in a half finished story. Nuff said.

Ok that's enough of that. There's no justification for making Edwin go off to Egypt with Neville or for Rosa hoping they come back with black wives.
