JAMES Bond star Daniel Craig has called politicians “backstabbers” and says he hated how ex-PM Tony Blair cosied up to celebrities.
The 007 actor blamed Mr Blair for enticing celebrities into party politics, saying: “Tony Blair started it much more than anybody’s ever done. ‘Go and have tea at 10 Downing Street.’ You immediately are aligning yourself with a political party.”
In a controversial interview in US magazine Men’s Journal he also described Blair’s New Labour as “the Tories dressed in red”.
The actor, starring in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, said he has no ambition to talk about politics like his Hollywood colleague George Clooney.
“George has his finger on the political pulse, and he’s one of those guys who can get up and talk, and I don’t have that,” he admitted.
“If someone shoves a microphone in your face and says ‘Explain yourself,’ you have to have a 100 per cent understanding of why you’re doing it. If not, don’t do it, leave it alone, let your work speak for itself.”
The actor, 43, who wed Rachel Weisz this year, dislikes his personal life being discussed. “If you sell yourself and give yourself up and share your innermost secrets, don’t be surprised when that bites you in the end.”
Sir Winston Churchill
"Never Give In"
"This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."
"If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it the third time — a tremendous whack."
"Dictators ride to and fro upon tigers which they dare not dismount. And the tigers are getting hungry."
"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last."

That comment almost seems that he would like even more relaxed immigration policies!
Or is it that not enough public money was given to theatres and "arts groups"?
