French satirical magazine set to spark outrage by naming Prophet Mohammed as editor-in-chief

Posted Image
Causing controversy: France's version of Private Eye is known for its mix of satire and investigative journalism

A leading French magazine is set to provoke fury around the world by calling itself Sharia Weekly and pretending that the Prophet Mohammed is editing it.
Charlie Hebdo, a Gallic version of Private Eye, prides itself on its mix of cutting satire and investigative journalism.
But it now plans to mock Islam by ‘celebrating’ the victory of Muslim groups in newly liberated Tunisia and Libya following the Arab Spring.
Not only will this week’s magazine be full of jokes about Islamic revolutionaries, but the slogan on the front page is ‘100 lashes if you don’t die of laughter’.
On the back, meanwhile, is a depiction of Mohammed wearing a red nose, and the words: ‘Yes, Islam is compatible with humour.’
The special edition also features an editorial ‘by the Prophet’ about Halal drinks, and there are features on ‘soft Sharia’, as well as a women’s section called ‘Sharia Madame’.

Ahmed Dabi, a leading French Muslim rights campaigner, said: ‘For a start the jokes are not funny, but the magazine is also deliberately trying to provoke anger and unhappiness against Muslims.
‘People will read it and come away with a very negative opinion of a worldwide religion. If a similar magazine was produced about Christianity, then Christians would rightly complain.’
But spokesman for the magazine said: ‘We don’t feel like we are being provocative. ‘We just see it as doing our job as usual. The only difference this week is that the Prophet is on the cover, and it’s rare for him to be on the cover.’

Provocative: Charlie Hebdo has been satirising issues of the day since the 1960s
Today the cover of the magazine was already circulating on social media sites such as Twitter, and it will be out on newsstands all over France on Wednesday.
In 2007 a Paris court rejected a suit brought by two Muslim organisations against Charlie for reprinting cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that had appeared in a Danish newspaper.
The cartoons fuelled a fury of violent protests in the Islamic world when they were first printed in Denmark’s Jyllands-Posten newspaper in September 2005 and reprinted in European papers in January and February.
Embassies and churches were burned in the protests and at least 200 are thought to have died and many more were injured.
One of the cartoons showed the Prophet Muhammad wearing a turban shaped like a bomb with a burning fuse.
Islamic law forbids any depiction of the prophet, even positive ones, to prevent idolatry.
There are some six million Muslims living in France – the largest group of its kind in western Europe.
While many have welcomed the fall of despots like Muammar Gaddafi following the Arab Spring revolts, many fear that they will be replaced by extreme Islamist governments.

I prefer the fallout to any actual mocking of them - they make themselves funnier by being completely up their own backside, no sense of humour whatsoever. Muammar Gaddafi was better than what they're going to get in Libya, I'm betting anyway! There's two choices, a pro-business Americano, who is somewhat or a hybrid between what Islam demands and what our modern dreadful world expects. And then there's the extreme Islamo, of course Muammar Gaddafi was one however he maintained peace in Libya for decades - now they're out for blood and are running out of donations.

"For a start it is not Funny"  "provoking anger and unhappiness against Muslims"  ..Unlike Sharia law that doesn't provoke anger unhappiness by promoting, rape, incest, loss of limbs and murder.

"People will come away with a negative opinion of a world wide religion".   ..Muslims created and reinforced that image themsleves, something to do with perpetual jihad. And Christianity is often the target of humour.

Well, the offices of this French magazine have been blown up and destroyed just a day after this. (source, Daily Telegraph online)

Meanwhile, a busload of Mohammadans from Birmingham have been blown up somewhere foreign (can't be bothered to check where) on their way to Mecca. Included was a translator with a Western sounding name. (Source - the mail online All the comments I saw, were from Mohammadans) Oink oink

This just proves to me that there are powerful people in Europe who have an agenda to facilitate a religious/ethnic war by deliberately provoking Muslims. Everyone knows there's only one outcome when mocking Islam and I'm willing to bet that certain people are counting on that reaction.

Someone asked Ian Hislop on the radio recently, if Private Eye might have a pop at Islam. He replied, "No, I don't think so, after what happened to Salman Rushdie".

I don't know what happened to satire in this country, had its balls chopped off by pc scissors I should think. All we are left with is sniggering schoolboy fluff, and no clout.

"an agenda" Steed? Maybe...... but I don't think so.

Offices of French magazine torched after latest edition mocked Prophet Mohammed

Molotov cocktails were today used to burn down the headquarters of a leading French magazine because it mocked the Prophet Mohammed.
Arsonists struck shortly after 1am at the Paris offices of Charlie Hedbo, a Gallic version of Private Eye which prides itself on its mix of cutting satire and investigative journalism.
Its latest edition carries a cartoon image of a bearded Mohammed - something which is blasphemous under Islamic law - and pretends that it is being 'guest edited' by the Prophet.

It is accompanied by the slogan '100 lashes if you don't die of laughter', and the magazine is renamed 'Sharia Hebdo', after Sharia law.
A source at the magazine, based in Boulevard Davout in the city's 20th arrondissement, said: 'Molotov cocktail petrol bombs were used to attack the offices first thing this morning.
'The attackers concentrated on the computer system, literally melting it. The offices were empty so nobody was injured, but thousands of euros worth of damage were caused.'
Charlie Hebdo's editor-in-chief, a cartoonist known only as Charb, said: 'We no longer have a newspaper. All our equipment has been destroyed or has melted.
'We could not put a paper together today, but we will do everything possible to produce one next week.
'Whatever happens, we'll do it. There is no question of giving up.'

The magazine's website was also hacked, with messages appearing in English and Turkish denouncing its journalists for causing widespread offence.
Armed police were this morning surrounding the charred remains of the building, which is close to a number of housing estates where the occupants are predominantly Muslim.

Satire: The editor of Charlie Hebdo was prosecuted after reprinting cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in 2005, but was later acquitted
Many regularly complain about discrimination in a country where racial and religious tensions often boil to the surface in riots.
Six years ago, Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard provoked anger across the Islamic world when he published 12 satirical images of the Prophet in a Danish newspaper.
The then editor of Charlie Hebdo was prosecuted in France for 'insulting Muslims' after he reproduced those images, but he was acquitted in 2007.
Despite this morning's attack, the special edition of Charlie Hebdo was still on newsstands this morning, complete with an editorial 'by the Prophet' on Hallal drinks.
There were also features on 'soft Sharia', concentrating on the emergence of Islamic parties in Tunisia and Libya following the Arab Spring revolutions.
It also has a women's section called 'Sharia Madame', which concentrates on Islamic veils, which were recently banned in France.
There are around six million Muslims living in France - the largest Muslim population in western Europe.
A Paris spokesman said there had been no arrests, but witnesses had seen the petrol bombs being thrown and two men fleeing the scene.

As we have spoken on before. In England's the lab/lib/con machine uses every tool they have to provoke the indigenous English majority population into a reaction against state and EU backed islamification. Which is used as one of the front line tools of the lab/lib/con EU to attack all that is English, and to further failed multiculturalism and marxist ideology. The same ideology that is allied to the self proclaimed political liberal elites and their allies.

The idea is to provoke a physical backlash, no matter how small, from the English.  And so then bring in further totalitarian laws stop any justified acts of backlash from the English. Then clamp down to crush all such attempts permanently. While claiming they were crushed for the benefit of the country. And so as with pc Thought-Laws and Mind-Laws that the state uses to suppress the English. So all forms of lawful physical demonstration by the Englsih could be banned just in case they turn into something else, in the mind of the politicians. All very convenient.

In the case of the lab/lib/con it is agitate, manipulate, orchestrate and exploit.

the problem for the authorities is that the very repression they plan to crush us with will have exactly the opposite effect the more they suppress us the more we will resist and the further they push us the more people will start to resisit untill they are destroyed by there own hubris.

Has anyone stopped to think why this was burned down, I'm not talking specifically as we know what these camel fuckers are capable of. What my point is, given the response to the Danish Cartoons in Jyllands Posten and other incidents since then, why was there no "watch" put on the Offices of this magazine because it was a prime target after what they printed. Something doesn't sit right with this.

Fair play, tolerance and freedom. Over the last millennium all of these qualities have marked us out as a nation and so, in the future, will continue to do so... They also say that we're always pissed, completely arrogant and hate foreigners... Ah well, nobody's perfect!

Anyone who 'offends' Islam is at the very best going to see massive protests.  Where were the security?
Was the editor and staff protected incase they got stabbed in the street?

Maybe it was an insurance scam?

Here's my understanding of the situation:
The Marxist establishment want to forever kill English (and all western) freedom and autonomy. To do this they need to create a completely totalitarian state (not just the soft totalitarian state we live in now). They need an excuse to do this. Religious or ethnic war/unrest is this excuse. That's one of the reasons they've imported millions of Muslims (and other foreigners) into England - to create the perfect environment for the conflict they crave. They are currently attempting to 'ignite' this kindling they've built - sometimes by provoking the English, sometimes by provoking the Muslims. I think they (the Marxist Globalists) now realise that provoking Muslims is much easier due to their short tempers and violent third-world ways. And, importantly, by provoking one they provoke the other. Because if we see Muslims rioting over cartoons of Mohammed, eventually we are going to confront them (the EDL). PS: I strongly believe Anjem Choudary is a key state agent in all of this.

We should have freedom to poke fun: Unrepentant French newspaper reprints Mohammed cartoon... despite being firebombed

A French satirical magazine whose office was firebombed after it printed a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed reproduced the image today and defended its 'freedom to poke fun'.
Molotov cocktails were used to burn down the headquarters of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo.
Despite yesterday's firebomb attack on its Paris office, the magazine has printed the image again with other caricatures in a special supplement distributed with one of the country's leading newspapers.

Unrepentant: Charlie Hebdo defended their 'freedom to poke fun' despite their Paris offices being firebombed

Charlie Hebdo produced a four-page supplement wrapped around copies of the left-wing daily Liberation today, a day after the arson attack on its Paris headquarters.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place hours before an edition of Charlie Hebdo hit newsstands featuring a cover-page cartoon of Mohammed and a speech bubble with the words: '100 lashes if you don't die of laughter'.

The weekly, known for its irreverent treatment of the political establishment and religious figures, bore the headline 'Charia Hebdo', in a reference to Muslim sharia law, and said that week's issue had been guest-edited by Mohammed.

Posted Image
The Charlie Hebdo's publisher, known only as Charb, speaks to the press after the firebombing. The magazine has since said that 'freedom to have a good laugh is as important as freedom of speech'

The incident pits Europe's tradition of free speech and secularism against Islam's injunction barring any depictions seen as mocking the prophet.
The publication of cartoons of Mohammed in a Danish newspaper in 2005 sparked unrest in the Muslim world in which at least 50 people were killed.
While French Muslim groups criticised Charlie Hebdo's work, they also condemned the firebomb attack.

The head of the Paris Mosque, Dalil Boubakeur, told a news conference today: 'I am extremely attached to freedom of the press, even if the press is not always tender with Muslims, Islam or the Paris Mosque'.
'French Muslims have nothing to do with political Islam.'
Following the attack, Charlie Hebdo staff moved temporarily into the offices of Liberation. The two publications jointly produced today's supplement.
One headline in it declared: 'After their office blaze, this team defends the "freedom to poke fun".'
'We thought the lines had moved and that maybe there would be more respect for our satiricial work, our right to mock. Freedom to have a good laugh is as important as freedom of speech,' said Charlie Hebdo editor Stephane Charbonnier in the supplement.

Posted Image
Satire: The editor of Charlie Hebdo was prosecuted after reprinting cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in 2005, but was later acquitted

The supplement included several new drawings by Charlie Hebdo cartoonists. In one, a prophet-like figure tries to restrain his billowing robes in a pose reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe as a draft blows up from Charlie Hebdo newspapers below him.
Another shows an airborne firebomb with a face in the flames and the caption, 'So, is this how you see the prophet?'
France has Europe's largest Muslim community, numbering about five million out of an overall population of 65 million. The country has a deep tradition of official secularism and adopted a ban this year on women wearing face-covering veils in public, which is being challenged in court.
Luz, the cartoonist who drew the cover cartoon at the centre of the controversy, said it was still unclear who had carried out the attack.
'Let's be cautious. There's every reason to believe it's the work of fundamentalists but it could just as well be the work of two drunks,' he said in the supplement.
A Paris spokesman said yesterday there had been no arrests, but witnesses had seen the petrol bombs being thrown and two men fleeing the scene.
