If that doesn't take your fancy, don't worry as you can still socialise with the rest of your kin in the bar. Hopefully the Mead horn will be passed around giving you the opportunity to say a few words for England.

Sunday will be a day to relax and socialise some more.

Battle itself is rather small, but you'll find plenty of places to chat, eat and drink. My advice is to get there on the Friday and to meet in the Abbey Hotel for a chit chat with fellow ASF / ES / Steadfast Trust members. They're all friendly, and if it's your first time, you'll be made to feel more than welcome. Try not to get too drunk though, as it'll be an early start on Saturday for the entrance into the grounds followed by the memorial service to King Harold and all those that died to defend England from foreign invasion. After the ceremony you'll be free to visit the stalls as well as watch the re-enactment. Just make sure you fly the white dragon and heckle the Norman orcs on their way past.

Sad you can't make it mate, but no worries, we'll you next year mate, i'm sure we'll have a pint or two for you, and anyone else unable to make it!!

As for everyone else, we'll see you on the Friday in the Abbey, for a few, and a laugh, so see you there!!

I'll make every effort but I really doubt I can make it because I may be doing my RAF training around that time. For the first 4 weeks I won't be allowwed off camp but after that I can come out of weekends. The training might be down south which would be closer to most of you and of course the events.

I have just been on the 1066 Country website and complained about the quote in the Battle page " The birth place of English history". No it is not . They have been notified, will they bother to reply or change it , we will find out.

Don't hold your breath...English Heritage put a similar statement on a banner advertising the re-enactment outside the Abbey a couple of years ago...still waiting for a reply to our complaints

It's amazing that people go on displaying their own ignorance! Well historical accuracy is not top of their list, obviously.

I know what you mean, Sceadugenden and Saxonmaiden. It's brainwashing for the sheeple. I had a rant in the Englisc Heritage owned gift shop, in Richmond Castle, recently. They were selling mugs depicting all the kings and queens of England....starting with William I. When I ranted about the absence of Athelstan, Edmund, Alfred, etc., I just received a blank, confused look and, although there were plenty of celtic-related merchandise, any anglo-saxon themed giftes were glaringly missing.

Oh well, I shall continue to rant - probably about the same thing - in the next EH owned gift shop, because if enough of us demand the inclusion of our historically-related merchandise (although we shouldn't have to), their greed might just tip the balance in our favour. We can but hope.

Good work,Alfrun. Everything has to be pointed out to them,that we won't accept their revisionist propaganda against the factual history of our country. It feels at times we are living in another dimension,you want to shout to the sheeple that why can't they see it? But plans are being made to rouse them from their slumber,especially with the Elites British wet-dream of the Olympics heading our way. They'll be lot's of opportunities to stand up and tell the world that the English are still here,and we won't ever be tarred with the  'Union Rag'...

My brother and myself will be there - not staying in Battle as we have family up the road in Robertsbridge so we always meet up and have a drink with them. We will be in the Abbey or similar early on Saturday morning and will, as always attend the ceremony to honour King Harold and the fallen.

I have had to make a kite shield for both boys for the day, as they can strap them on their backs  and ride the horses easier, not that I`m bringing them of course. They want them in red with unicorns , they are getting blue and yellow with white wyverns.
