FEAST FOR THE FALLEN, October 15th 2011.Battle, West Sussex.
A warm welcome awaits all members and supporters of The Steadfast Trust at Battle, Sussex.
We will be meeting at The Abbey Hotel at 7pm on Saturday October 15th and raising our drinking horns in memory of our fallen English warriors who formed the shieldwall on that fateful day in 1066.
We have managed to negotiate the same prices we offered last year ..This represents outstanding value as it includes an evening of entertainment !
MEAL.
In the oak beamed ambience of this fine old hostelry we will sit down at candlelit tables to enjoy:
*A choice of 3 different authentic early English main course dishes based on records going back to the 7th century!
*An unrivalled delicious pudding or a cheese and fruit option.
MUSIC:
To lend the right atmosphere to the proceedings
* For the second year running we will have the pleasure of music played on lute, lyre and hurdy- gurdy by Anthony and Anne Purnell, two leading musicians from the acclaimed Kent period music group 'Cancionero'. Last year we had an inspiring version of Beowulf, accompany by a harp, this year's offering promises to be equally exciting!

Quote
I'd come just for that
Their Blood flows in me, through their Eyes I see, with their Spirit I shall bring down my blade,
I speak with their Words, their Callings I have heard, for their Honour I shall bring down my blade
I am seeking to create an online (and later real world) community of Old English speakers. The first step to the revival of any tribe is the recreation of our native tongue, without which we cannot possible hope to know our ancestors.
If you are interested, please pm me.

It seems to me that God, with infinite wisdom and skill, is training the Anglo-Saxon race for an hour sure to come in the world's future. - Josiah Strong (1891)
