The White Wyrm of the Englisc

Wyrm, or Worm is an Old English word which generally refers to a serpent or dragon. Unlike traditional dragons, a Wyrm has a serpent-like body and only two legs.

Just like the wolf and boar, the wyrm played a major role in Englisc history. From tales to imagery, the evidence is there to suggest that our ancestors were fascinated by this mythical beast.

Design and meaning

Like the White Wulf, the Englisc Wyrm is a banner of kinship. The Englisc Wyrm is a reminder of our heritage and our roots, and is also a banner of hope for future generations of our folk.

The image below shows our interpretation of the English Wyrm. We referenced a variety of images and decided on a simple, yet instantly recognisable design. We didn't want an overly complex design. Above all else, we wanted an image that was designed specifically for the indigenous English tribe. The image itself is of a stitched prototype flag, which with a few tweaks here and there, will most likely be available in our shop in the near future.
